Boise man jailed for machete attack

A 35-year-old Boise man is charged with felony aggravated battery for trying to cut another man in the chest with a machete earlier this month.

Travis Robert Ash is also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in connection with the case. A preliminary hearing is set for July 23.

The man Ash was trying to cut was able to use his hand to block the machete from hitting his chest but suffered a deep gash on the thumb.

Deputies began their investigation just after midnight on July 8 when they were called out to a home in the Cole/Victory roads neighborhood for a report of a fight.

When they arrived, Deputies found a man with a bandaged and bleeding hand who said he was stabbed by Ash over a dispute about property.

The man was checked out by paramedics and eventually drove himself to a local hospital to get treatment.

Deputies pulled over a car Ash was driving a short time  later. Deputies found a machete in his car, along with a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Ash is being held in the Ada County Jail on a $150,000 bond. The crime of aggravated battery is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
