Boise couple charged in connection with fatal rollover crash on Black Cat Road in March

The father and stepmother of a 14-year-old girl who died as the result of a rollover crash on Black Cat Road last spring are charged with felony injury to child.

James D. Barnes and Jordan E. Jamison are both also charged with misdemeanor counts of domestic battery in connection with the crash that led to the death of 14-year-old Autumn Barnes.

Detectives say Jamison, who was driving, and Barnes, who was a front seat passenger, were arguing and hitting each other when Jamison lost control of the Ford Explorer before it rolled over and crashed off the side of Black Cat Road on March 31.

Autumn Barnes died when she was thrown from the back of the Explorer. Emergency crews had to cut the 25-year-old Jamison out of the wreckage of the SUV.

Paramedics transported Jamison and a 46-year-old James Barnes to a local hospital for treatment.

There is evidence Jamison had methamphetamine in her system at the time of the crash.

The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. March 31. Jamison was driving the car northbound on Black Cat Road, just south of the Amity Road intersection, when she lost control of the Explorer. Witnesses say the SUV rolled over after the driver tried to steer it back on the road.

Deputies and paramedics arrived moments later. Autumn Barnes was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. It appears she was not wearing her seatbelt.

Deputies did a thorough and complete investigation, including crash reconstruction, evidence collection and testing, and interviews before turning the case over to Ada County prosecutors in June.

Prosecutors issued the arrest warrants for both James Barnes and Jordan Jamison on Monday. ACTION team deputies arrested both without incident on Tuesday.

James Barnes was released from jail Tuesday afternoon after posting a $75,000 bond. Jamison remains in jail and is expected to make her initial court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
